There’s something to be said about a traditional church wedding. Besides the fact that it’s the house of lord, when loved ones are all gathered to celebrate love it just makes for pretty pictures. Robert and Anyet had a traditional church wedding and then held their reception at The Florentine in Birmingham. Alabama based, Fotowerks Custom Photography was on hand to capture their big day.
From the Bride:
Robert and I met through a mutual friend that he worked with and that I went to nursing school together. My friend came to me one night at work insisting that I should meet this guy who worked in the ER with her. I was not very interested to say the least and after several weeks of her saying you really should meet I decided to meet him. The first night we met I walked down to the emergency room and we were introduced to one another. He did more staring than talking to me but after a few conversations the rest was history and here we are today. One evening, which I assumed was our normal night in, I noticed he was acting very nervous. Over a romantic dinner at my house, which he prepared, he got down on one knee and asked if he could have the pleasure of continuing to make me happy for the rest of our lives.”
Tell us about your big day:
The wedding was simply perfect. I specifically remember being to nervous to eat. The day started with make up for myself and bridesmaids followed by hair. And then it was time to get into my dress. I remember being so excited that I was attempting to get into my gown without the photographers or videographers in the room until my wedding planner told me to hold on and wait for the photographers. The anticipation leading up to the wedding was so intense my cousin kept telling me to use my real smile for the pre-wedding pictures. As the time came closer I was able to have a very personal moment with just me and my father in which he told me I was beautiful and I had to tell him not to cry yet. The ceremony was short and sweet and I have to say I cried all the way down the aisle just looking around at all of the people who came to support Robert and I on our special day. The floral arrangements were beautiful and the church had just enough light gleaming through the stained glass. The exit in the Rolls Royce was truly exciting and the car was beautiful. The reception was truly a party. The ballroom was all that I dreamed it to be and the first dance and I was nervous for the first dance because I had refused to practice, but we didn’t have any mistakes! The food was delicious and so was the cake. We danced the night away and the men in my family dance with me all while leaving a money token as well! The guests dined on crab cakes and quiche during the cocktail hour and enjoyed stuffed chicken with spinach and cheese, stuffed pork, asparagus, and mashed potatoes and the guests finished the night off with drawings by the caricaturists as favors. The night ended with Robert and I leaving by a trail of sparklers and off in the Rolls Royce we went!!”
