Hello beautiful people!! Recently, I stumbled upon an article on Huffington Post Weddings that got me thinking. In the article they spoke of a survey that was completed that found, “that as many as 65 percent of married women in their 20s and 30s had decided to take their husband’s name after marriage.” According to the article, ” Even more women in their their 40s, 50s, and 60s changed their names — 68 percent, 75 percent and 80 percent, respectively.” Traditionally, when getting married the bride takes on the last name of her husband however, many have chosen not to do this for a host of reasons. However, alot of women today still decide to take on their husband’s last name but there is an equal amount of women who will ditch tradition and keep their maiden name. I think there are 4 options. You can chose to take your husbands last name, hyphenate your name, use his last name as your middle name, or just keep your last maiden name.
I’d love to hear from you guys..did you change your last name when you got married? Why or Why not?
